Stop smoking for good.
Stopping smoking can make a huge difference to your health, lifestyle and finances. If you have decided to quit smoking then it is important that you are fully committed to stopping (not just feeling that you ought to or being forced into it by others). Willpower is important but sometimes willpower alone is not enough and this is where hypnotherapy comes in. Because smoking is a habit, it is controlled by the unconscious mind. Since hypnosis works directly with the unconscious, this method of smoking cessation makes good sense.
It is important to think carefully about why you started smoking and what it does for you as these are the types of questions you will be asked prior to any hypnosis.
Many people have the false impression that smoking relaxes them. Cigarettes are actually a stimulant and increase your heart rate. If you smoke 20 cigarettes per day then your heart will beat an extra 10,000 beats in that day. The craving that is experienced by the smoker when he/she needs to top up the nicotine levels is unpleasant and creates discomfort (restlessness, anxiety and irritability). Smoking relieves this craving and so reduces the discomfort, leading to the false belief that smoking enhances relaxation.
The reason that people don’t give up smoking is fear. The fear that you’ll have to give up your crutch or pleasure. The fear that you won’t be able to handle stressful situations. Fear that giving up will lead to weight gain and the fear of withdrawal symptoms.
Hypnosis, however, can make smoking cessation easy and painless. Instead of eating more once the smoking habit has been removed, exercise and healthy eating can be introduced.
Smoking cessation can be completed during one double session of hypnotherapy and this is suitable for most people. However, sometimes, the habit can be reduced gradually over several sessions.
