How can hypnotherapy help?
Hypnotherapy is the use of hypnosis for the treatment and relief of various psychological and somatic symptoms. It utilises a trance state, allowing you to be open to positive suggestions, which can help you to change unwanted or unhelpful behaviours. Often the hypnotic state is compared to daydreaming or to the experience that many of us have when driving. We often realise that we have passed through villages without being consciously aware of doing so. We have at all times remained in control of the vehicle and had any situation arisen whereby our conscious attention was required then we would instantly have returned to full conscious awareness in order to deal with it.
The hypnotist merely acts as a guide, tailoring the experience to the individual. For hypnosis to be successful, the client has to want it to happen, expect it to happen and allow it to happen. If any of these are not present then it is unlikely that hypnosis will take place. It is therefore the client who determines what if any responses are made. Clients remain in control at all times during hypnosis. It is a safe, natural and effective treatment, free of harmful side effects. No one can be hypnotised against their will or made to do or say anything they don’t want to.
Whilst in the hypnotic state helpful and beneficial suggestions are made to the unconscious part of the mind which contains our memories, automatic functions, feelings and beliefs. Having come to Hypnotherapy from a therapy and teaching background I am very aware of the power of suggestion. We are often afraid of change because we are afraid of how this change will affect others, especially those we are close to. People often prefer to ‘live a lie’ rather than upset partner or family. Somewhere along the line, however, they often lose their ‘true selves’. Anger, guilt and resentment can build up and this can lead to illness in mind and body.
As a Hypnotherapist, I acknowledge the importance of working in such a way as to empower people and help them to realise that we all have the power to change, when we are ready.
Hypnotherapy is very relaxing and can therefore be used to help those who have a high level of stress in their lives. Stress has been shown to be a factor in about 75% of all health conditions and so deep relaxation can help in a preventative way to maintain or improve wellbeing. Hypnotherapy has also been used to help those who have problems with:
- IBS
- Chronic Pain
- Phobias
- Anxiety
- Weight Management
- Exam nerves
- Low self esteem
|
- Confidence
- Relaxation
- Smoking
- Habits
- Childbirth
- Sporting Performance

EFT
EFT is a basic technique which is easily taught to clients. Our thoughts are linked to the body’s energy field. Memories and thoughts can create negative emotions. In the process of creating these emotions there is a disruption in the smooth flowing of energy through the meridian system and this can lead to physical and psychological pain. EFT works on the meridians using tapping and direct statements to release this negative energy. It can be used on its own or alongside hypnotherapy for a variety of problems.
